We have already breezed through the definition phase and now need people who are committing to ask questions or answer them in the beta phase (in particular during the private beta phase that will last 7 days.

Drupal and a lot of community modules do not work yet 100% with PHP 5.3. Therefore, in order to make it easier for any drupal administrators who wish to run the ubuntu lucid server, I have created a ppa that allows easy use of php5.2 packages that have been compiled under lucid: https://edge.launchpad.net/~txwikinger/+archive/php5.2

Rules for pinning this version are provided in the description of the ppa.

I have recently found a couple of really neat configurations that make my life using ssh a lot easier.

I often use ssh on non-standard ports. This is advantageous because of two different reasons. It allows to run multiple virtual machines being directly accessible via one IP address. This can be important because the IPv4 address space is very limited and somehow the jump to IPv6 is very slow.

After some precursory testing and analysis, the problem seems to be gnome-keyring if lernid will not start and crashed with an gnomekeyring IO error (also stating it cannot find the right information for the secrets file).

It seems the most simple workaround to resolve this problem is to just once start gnome-keyring-daemon. It seems to create the necessary files that the error in lernid does not occur.

Trotz aller Freude über Hardy Herron, den robusten Reiher, und auch nach dem Nachlassen der ersten Motivation als unser Bug-triage Team gegründet wurde, hat es unser Team auch diesmal nach nur 2-1/2 Monaten geschafft, ins nächste Bug-Millenium einzutreten.

Nicht vergessen! Wie es ja schon Tradition geworden ist, wird nächste Woche eine Ubuntu Open Week stattfinden. Die Ubuntu Open Week findet im IRC Kanal #ubuntu-classroom statt und besteht aus einer Reihe von Lehrgängen über neue Funktionen von Ubuntu und Einführungen wie man Anfangen kann, zu Ubuntu beizutragen. Es ist noch nicht einmal einem Monat her, seitdem ich hier dafür geworben habe, sich an der Bugtriage für Ubuntu und im speziellen auch für Kubuntu im Namen des Teams Kubuntu-de.org zu beteiligen. Die Antwort ist überwältigend. Das Team Kubuntu-de.org hat als erstes aller Teams, die magische Schallmauer von 1000 bearbeiteten Fehlerberichten durchbrochen.

Ich kann da nur eines sagen. Vielen Dank an alle für diese großartige Beteiligung. Und um nicht die Motivation zu verlieren... die 2000 Marke wartet jetzt auf uns. Viel Spaß beim Erstürmen weitere Gipfel :).

Während Ubuntu und Kubuntu in regelmäßigen Zyklen erstaunliche Fortschritte machen, gibt es auf der anderen Seite ein immer größer werdender Fehlersee. In diesem Moment, wo ich dieses schreibe sind 39646 Fehlerberichte offen. 25208 dieser Berichte sind nicht geprüft und verbessert, so dass sie direkt von den Entwickler effizient bearbeitet werden können.
